Fred E. Webster, 86, of Dennis, better known as Poppy, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 12, 2017.

Born in Hartford, CT to Lawrence and Marie, Fred grew up in Hartford and West Hartford graduating from William Hall High School. Fred was a proud US Air Force Korean War veteran. He raised his family in Glastonbury, where he taught them to enjoy skiing, camping, and family trips. He retired from Southern New England Telephone Company with 35 years of service. Fred E. Webster, 86, of Dennis, better known as Poppy, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 12, 2017.

Born in Hartford, CT to Lawrence and Marie, Fred grew up in Hartford and West Hartford graduating from William Hall High School. Fred was a proud US Air Force Korean War veteran. He raised his family in Glastonbury, where he taught them to enjoy skiing, camping, and family trips. He retired from Southern New England Telephone Company with 35 years of service. After moving to the Cape in 1993, Fred continued to enjoy golfing, fishing, boating, bowling, wood carving, crafting, and traveling. His deepest joy was taking care of those he loved.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years Phyllis; his loving children and their spouses; Debbie & Peter, Fred, Lynn & Mark. He took great joy in his 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Lawrence and sister Ellen. Fred is predeceased by his brother Richard and sister Ruth.

A Celebration of Fred's Life will be held on Saturday, May 20th, 2:30 p.m. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 310 Route 137, Harwich, MA 02645.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the St. Peter's organ fund to honor Fred's love for music and his faith.

Arrangements are under the direction of Doane, Beal & Ames in South Dennis.
